With the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics just around the corner, the women’s tournament is
expected to be competitive. From world number one Iga Swiatek, to American sensation, Coco
Gauff, the field is stacked. But on the betting front, all the money is on the Polish star, Swiatek,
and rightfully so. While she is the overwhelming favorite, there could be some value on others.
Let’s find out who could be in contention this summer.
Iga Swiatek, Poland -150
Poland’s Iga Swiatek has been on a massive roll in 2024. She’s 45-4 and is coming off her
fourth French Open title overall, including winning the last three straight. This is her first time
competing in singles action at the Olympics, having made the quarters in doubles at the 2020
Games. This tournament is hers to lose. She has an incredible 35-2 record on the clay courts
at Roland Garros, and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
Aryna Sabalenka, Belarus +450
Many feel Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka, a former world number one, has the best chance to take
down Swiatek despite a 3-8 record against the current world’s number one. Sabalenka has
been just as dominant as Swiatek over the last two years. She’s won two majors, and has
made the semifinals in five of the last 6 Grand Slam tournaments. If she’s on her game, she’ll
have a shot in Paris, whether it’s against Swiatek or not.
Coco Gauff, USA +550
Coco Gauff is America’s next great hope. She’s just 20-years old and has seven WTA titles to
her name. Gauff is number three in the world and has wins over both Swiatek and Sabalenka.
She’s 20-5 all time on the clay courts of Roland Garros and reached the quarters in 2023, and
semifinal in 2024. She’s good enough to go deep in the draw, but standing in her way will be
the two aforementioned players.
Sleeper Pick
Ons Jauber, Tunisia (+2000)
Ons Jauber is ranked tenth in the world and the highest ranked African and Arab player in both
WTA and ATP history. The Tunisian has eleven singles titles and has made the quarterfinals in
the last two French Open tournaments. At these odds, Jauber could offer value for anyone
looking to stay away from the short favorites.
