Stolen Base Leader Odds 2025: De La Cruz an Overwhelming Favorite

March 17, 2025

When MLB made some changes to its rules, one of them was increasing action on the base paths. And that’s exactly what has happened, as we’ve seen big jumps in stolen bases over the last two seasons. That being said, there is one clear-cut leader who sits atop the odds board to lead the majors in stolen bases this coming season. Let's have a look to the full odds.

Elly De La Cruz, Reds +130

There is a reason why the Reds' speedster has such short odds. He led the majors with 67 stolen bases last year and was one of just three players to reach 50-plus steals. In his rookie season in 2023, De La Cruz recorded 35 stolen bases in just 98 games. Entering his third season, if he can cut down on his strikeouts—he had a league-high 218 last year—he has the speed to reach 70 stolen bases in 2025.

Ronald Acuña Jr., Braves +900

Ronald Acuña Jr. led the majors with 73 stolen bases in 2023 and was poised for another big year in 2024. But he tore his ACL, and his season was cut short. How will his recovery affect his running ability this season? If he’s 100%, these odds are too good to pass up.

Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers +950

Before last season, Shohei Ohtani had 57 stolen bases in his previous three seasons combined. In 2024, the two-way star recorded 59 stolen bases on his way to becoming the first 50/50 player. There is talk that Ohtani will pitch this season, which could lessen his stolen base attempts due to potential injury. While the odds are decent, it’s one to stay away from.

Bobby Witt Jr., Royals +1000

Bobby Witt Jr. has recorded three straight 30-plus steal seasons and finished 2023 with 49 stolen bases. While it would take a career year to beat De La Cruz, Witt has the ability to give himself a chance. He’s also considered one of the fastest players in MLB.

2025 Most Stolen Bases Odds:

  • Elly De La Cruz +130
  • Xavier Edwards +600
  • Corbin Carroll +750
  • Ronald Acuña Jr. +900
  • Shohei Ohtani +950
  • Bobby Witt Jr. +1000
  • Brice Turang +1200
  • Victor Robles +1800
  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. +2000
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong +2000
