As Opening Day gets closer, it’s time to break down which player will lead the Majors in hits. Can Bobby Witt Jr. repeat after recording 211 hits last season, or will Padres' Luis Arraez deliver as the current betting favorite? Let’s jump in and preview who will win this title. Check out the full odds on BetOnline.
Luis Arraez, San Diego Padres +650
While he may not dazzle you with power moon shots (just 4 home runs last season), Luis Arraez will get on base with hit after hit. Last season, the Padres' first baseman delivered with 200 hits, a year after putting up 203. He’s coming off hitting .354 in 2023 and .314 last year. Arraez is a model of consistency and should get on base often in 2025.
Bobby Witt Jr., Kansas City Royals +750
Bobby Witt Jr. will try to become the first repeat winner since 2020-2021, when Trea Turner went back-to-back. He finished with 211 hits while hitting .332 last season. Part of his success was a 25-game hit streak, where he had 49 hits in 98 at-bats. He became the first player since José Altuve in 2017 to record a .500 or better average over a 25-game stretch in a single season. While that will be tough to duplicate, Witt should be near the leaders in this category once again.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays +1000
If Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is motivated in a contract year, this could be a steal of a price. He had the league's second-best batting average (.323), the third-most hits (a career-high 199), and 30 home runs last season. He finished just 12 hits behind Witt. It’s unlikely he’ll re-sign in Toronto, meaning a big statistical season could lead to a massive payday.
