Rowing is one of the more popular sports during the Olympics, especially when it comes to
wagering. Rowing events will take seven days to wrap from from the heats to finals with 14
total events for men and women. The 8’s are the marquee race and we’ll take a look at who has
the best chance at gold.
WOMEN’S EIGHT
Romania -150
North American women have dominated this event winning the last four gold medals with the
U.S. victorious in 2008, 2012 and 2016, and Canada in 2020. But recently, Romania has
surpassed the two nations. There’s no surprise Romania is the overwhelming favorites as they
are the two-time defending world champions winning in 2022 and 2023. They have crushed the
competition and likely hit the top of the podium, but at a very short price.
USA +250
The Americans have seen a bit of a decline since their last Olympic gold but they did take silver
behind Romania at the 2023 World’s after finishing fourth in 2022.
Canada +1600
This is a huge price for the defending Summer Games champions but there are reasons for
those odds. Canada did win bronze in 2022 but finished fifth at the World's last year. And both
finishing times, the Canadians were six seconds back of Romania..

MEN’S EIGHT
Great Britain +115
Great Britain is the two-time world champion winning the titles in 2022 and 2023. They have
been a force for almost a decade including Olympic gold in 2016 and a bronze at the 2020
Summer Games. The Brits know the competition well as they have defeated the Netherlands
and Australia in each of the last two World Championships.
Netherlands +250
The Dutch are a world power but have played second fiddle to Great Britain at the last two world
championships, finishing with silver. Can they do enough this summer to finally get over the
hump? The Netherlands do offer a favorable price and are hoping the third time's the charm in
Paris.
Australia +300
Australia is stacking the boat for Paris trying to win that elusive gold in the 8s. They have won
two silvers in this event and are hoping to finally hit gold. Australia is adding three Olympic
champions to the crew, Jack Hargreaves, Spencer Turrin and Alex Purnell - all won gold in the
coxless four at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
