Gatorade Color Odds and Super Bowl Betting History

February 5, 2025

Before we see handshakes or a trophy presentation, many fans are eagerly waiting to find out what color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach. This wager has become one of the more popular prop bets among both football fans and non-football fans. Once again, Super Bowl 59 offers betting props for the color of Gatorade that will be used to celebrate a championship. Let's have a look of the full odds.

The Gatorade bath began in the 1980s and quickly became one of the most lighthearted moments of Super Bowl Sunday. However, it wasn’t until the boom in online sports betting during the late '90s that betting on the color of the Gatorade bath became popular.

Number of Times Each Color Has Been Used:

  • Orange: 5
  • Blue: 4
  • Clear: 4
  • Yellow: 3
  • Purple: 4
  • None: 4

Gatorade Color Odds

While Blue has been used in three of the last six Super Bowls, the Chiefs have gone with Purple in back-to-back years. Interestingly, Purple is one of the longer shots, while Orange leads the way.

  • Purple: +100
  • Yellow/Green: +200
  • Blue: +600
  • Orange: +750
  • Red/Pink: +1100
  • Clear/Water: +1200

Gatorade Shower Prediction: Purple (+100)

You can do all the research you want, but at the end of the day, it’s really a crapshoot. As mentioned, the Chiefs used Purple after their last two wins, and surprisingly, Purple sits at +100. With Kansas City going for a historic three-peat and being a slight favorite, superstitions could come into play here—meaning the staff may already have the Purple mix ready to go on Super Bowl Sunday. With that theory, and the Chiefs being the favorites, Purple seems like a solid value bet.

However, if you like the Eagles, Yellow makes sense, as they showered Doug Pederson with it after winning Super Bowl 52.

Since 2001, Orange has been the first choice for winning teams, being used five times. Recently, particularly in the last two years, the Chiefs have used Purple to give Andy Reid a shower. Should they win again, could it be a Gatorade hat trick?
