With the NBA playoffs now in the second round, the Finals MVP odds continue to swing as
teams advance into the final eight. And it’s no surprise two players are leading the way. But is
there value among others? Luka Doncic or even Shai Gilgeous-Alexander? We’ll take a look at
the current odds as teams try to advance to the conference finals
The Favorites
Jayson Tatum (+175)
The Celtics finished with the best record in the regular season and cruised in the opening round
against the Heat. Boston is a massive favorite to win it all (+130) and if they do, Jason Tatum
likely wins the Finals MVP. He averaged 22 points, 10 boards and 5 assists against Miami, but
expect his production to increase as this team moves on.
Nikola Jokic (+300)
Nikola Jokic is almost certain to win his third NBA MVP trophy and if the Nuggets repeat as
champs, he could add the playoff MVP to his resume this season. He is the best player on the
planet right now and is averaging almost a triple-double in the playoffs (28.2PPG, 16.2REB,
9.8A). If Denver meets Boston in the final, as many expect, The Serbian sensation could put
up big numbers, as he did in his two meetings vs the Celtics this season.
Longer Shots With A Shot
Anthony Edwards +1000
The Timberwolves star is the new face of the NBA. Anthony Edwards is having his breakout
playoff performance and all of a sudden as many think Minnesota has a real shot of making a
deep run. Through the first round, Edwards absolutely torched the Suns, averaging 35 points,
shooting 51% from the field and 44% from beyond the arc. If The T-wolves do find a way to get
past Denver, Edwards Finals MVP odds will drop considerably.
Jalen Brunson +1200
There is no player who has been as dominant in the first round than Jalen Brunson. He became
the first player since Michael Jordan in 1993 to score at least 37 points in four straight playoff
games. If not for Brunson, the Knicks likely don’t advance. If New York can get past Indiana,
it’ll likely set up a showdown against Boston. While the Knicks are still longshots (+1100) to win
it all, Brunson winning the MVP, is actually better odds, and if New York does take the title, you
can’t really see anyone but Brunson taking this award.
