We are halfway through the LCS Spring Split headed into this weekend. Preseason favorites Cloud9 and Team Liquid are atop the league, while long-time juggernaut Team SoloMid has completely collapsed. TSM is in dead last with a 1-8 record, leading to plenty of jeers and jokes in their direction. That has led to another roster change as Takeover will now replace Keaiduo in the mid lane.
2022 League of Legends LCS Spring Split Week 5
Team Liquid
Immortals
By the end of the season, Team Liquid might be an odds-on favorite to win the LCS. Liquid is the most talented team in the league now that CoreJJ was granted citizenship in order to not count as an international player. CoreJJ will return to the lineup this week, and that will make bottom laner Hans Sama even scarer. Meanwhile, Bjergsen continues to thrive upon his return to professional play with a 10.7 KDA.
They will be too much for Immortals to handle on Sunday as the advantage in the bottom lane will be too much for the underdogs to overcome.
100 Thieves
Counter Logic Gaming
The defending champions have not played great through the first month. 100 Thieves are just 5-4, and that’s not promising considering they had a big advantage in the first half of the season with their chemistry. It doesn’t look like FBI is very comfortable on either of the meta bottom lane champions, so that makes Counter Logic Gaming a nice upset pick.
CLG have the second-worst record in the league, but they beat Evil Geniuses last week. The bottom lane hasn’t been that bad, and Palafox has played better in the mid lane.
Cloud9
Evil Geniuses
Despite the sudden departure of LS, Cloud9 continue to be one of the best teams in the LCS. C9 have won four straight games coming into this week. Fudge has been surprisingly good in the mid lane, and Summit is probably the best top laner in the LCS at this point. Brand new bottom lane Berserker and Winsome have played very well too.
The first four weeks of the season have not been great for Evil Geniuses. They were expected to be an elite team with a very strong bottom lane, but mid laner Jojopyun has really struggled even on strong champions like Corki and Ryze.
Dignitas
FlyQuest
We’ve seen Dignitas fall apart over the last two weeks, while FlyQuest lost all three games last week. Dignitas is 1-4 over the last two weeks, and they lose their earlier match to FlyQuest, so they shouldn’t be favored in this match. Toucouille has performed very well in the mid lane, and the bottom lane is performing well.
Golden Guardians
Team SoloMid
How the mighty have fallen. Team SoloMid has cratered after trying to rebuild the team around jungler Spica. Imports Shenyi and Yursan have both struggled in support, and import mid laner Keaiduo has been arguably the worst player at his position in the LCS with a 1.9 KDA and a 48.5% kill percentage per Games of Legends. This might be a little too much credit to give Golden Guardians though.
